Alba means dawn, and that very light falls on the facades of the Cinque Terre just before sunrise: muted, dusty, not quite awake. Dusty rose is considered a daring color. Here it is not: the powdery character of Ancient Madder turns rose into an autumn shade. The diamond-shaped flowers are olive green and burnt orange, together more like morning light than color.

An honest assessment: if you are buying just one tie, this is not the one. It is the second or third you reach for when navy blue and burgundy have long been in your wardrobe and a day comes when both would be too predictable. With brown, olive and warm gray, for daytime occasions.
