The Derby has an open lacing system: the quarters sit on top of the vamp, not underneath. This makes it more generous in the instep and a touch more relaxed than the Oxford – a versatile companion that pairs equally well with a suit or flannel trousers.

Goodyear-welted: A surrounding welt connects the upper, insole, and outsole with a seam that can be reopened. The shoe can be re-soled and will last for years instead of wearing out – and it adapts to the foot with every wear.
